BankID Participates in WE BUILD

Published: February 25, 2025

The WE BUILD consortium, which consists of nearly 200 partners from both the public and private sectors – including 13 European business registers – aims to improve the use of digital identity and data sharing for businesses and payments across Europe.

WE BUILD will contribute to enhancing cross-border and digital interaction between businesses in Europe based on the new infrastructure for digital identity (eIDAS 2.0). By utilizing the European Digital Identity Wallet, which Norway is also obliged to issue, the project will facilitate seamless interaction between companies and public entities, making cross-border transactions more efficient and secure. The pilot will also demonstrate the benefits that digital business wallets can have for banking and payment services.
BankID aims to help Norway take a leading role in the new digital ecosystem for electronic identity and data sharing in Europe.

In WE BUILD, BankID will:

  • Provide an identity wallet for Norwegian users in the project.
  • Issue so-called electronic attested attributes for finance in collaboration with Norwegian partners.
  • Test the usefulness of digital business wallets in collaboration with Digdir, DFØ, and the Brønnøysund Register Centre.

The WE BUILD project starts in September 2025 and has a duration of 24 months. For more information about the project, see webuildconsortium.eu.

About Digital business wallets

Digital business wallets will function as a digital identity for companies in Europe. These company wallets will enable the sharing of electronic documents and evidence, and facilitate direct interaction with other companies, individuals, and public authorities based on a publicly approved wallet linked to the company's number in the business register.
