How to activate faster BankID
For new app users
As a new user of the BankID app, you'll be able to activate Faster BankID using facial recognition, fingerprint, or a PIN when you activate the app.
- Download the BankID app.
- Follow the instructions within the app to activate Faster BankID.

For existing app users
- Open the BankID app and tap on "My BankID" in the menu at the bottom of the screen.
- Follow the instructions within the app to activate BankID with facial recognition, fingerprint, or PIN.

Frequently asked questions about faster BankID
Once you have activated facial recognition or fingerprint in the BankID app, this service is ready to use. When you are on a website where you need to identify yourself with BankID, select "BankID app" as the method. In some cases, you may automatically be prompted with facial recognition or fingerprint as the method without needing to manually choose "BankID app."
You will then receive a notification on your phone/tablet that needs to be approved. Tap the notification to confirm that it is you attempting to log in and follow the instructions in the app. If the website you are logging into has implemented biometrics into its solution, you will be able to complete the login using facial recognition or fingerprint. If the website does not offer biometrics, you will automatically be prompted with the BankID app and password to complete the login.
For you to be able to activate facial recognition or fingerprint in the BankID app, the following conditions must be met:
- You must have a newer operating system.
- Facial recognition or fingerprint must be enabled on your device.
- Open the BankID app
- Go to "BankID" on the bottom menu bar
- Then click on the "Activate" button
- Complete the steps in the activation loop
Not for Shared Devices
Please remember not to activate BankID with facial recognition or fingerprint if you share your device with others. If multiple individuals in your household have registered their fingerprints or facial recognition on the device, you should remove their biometric access before enabling these features in the BankID app. Additionally, consider creating a new PIN code if you suspect that others are aware of the one used on your phone or tablet.
