"The new solution will make everyday life simpler and faster for many of our users. While logging in with BankID on mobile takes around 30 seconds, using the BankID app with facial recognition, fingerprint, or PIN code will take less than 10 seconds," says Jan Bjerved, Head of ID at BankID BankAxept.
Faster BankID will become more and more prevalent over time. The ambition is that, in the future, you will be able to use facial recognition, fingerprint, or PIN code for logging in in most cases. In other words, this will largely replace the current use of passwords. The exception is situations that require extra security, such as larger transactions and e-signatures, such as when signing documents for a property purchase.
"The release of faster BankID will happen gradually, and you will still find that you need to use passwords in many cases for a while. It will not be a requirement to use biometric login, but it is recommended because it provides an even better and faster user experience," says Bjerved.
To use faster BankID, your bank must support the BankID app and have enabled login with facial recognition, fingerprint, or PIN code. In addition, you must have an operating system of iOS 15, Android 7 or newer, and you must have activated facial recognition/fingerprint/PIN on your device.
Some BankID users have already activ atedtheir apps for login with facial recognition, fingerprint, or PIN. These users will automatically gain access to the service as it is rolled out. Users who have not yet configured their apps for faster BankID can activate the service by following the guide below.
As a new user of the BankID app, you will be able to activate BankID with facial recognition, fingerprint, or PIN when you activate the app.
Follow the instructions in the app to activate faster BankID.
Open the BankID app and tap "My BankID" in the menu at the bottom of the page.

If you are unable to activate BankID with facial recognition, fingerprint, or PIN by following the steps above, you should check if this feature is enabled on the phone or tablet you are using. You can find this in the settings on your device.
