Who does this apply to?

This applies to most users of the BankID app.

It does not apply:

  • persons under 18
  • people who only use a code device
  • people with foreign passports can scan it in the BankID app, if you have the status "checked" and a valid, machine-readable ID document. Check the status at skatteetaten.no and, if necessary, book an appointment there to arrange this. If you have received a new passport since the first time you received BankID, you can wait to take any action.
  • Those who are covered by the ID verification will receive a notification directly in the BankID app explaining what they need to do. Users who are not asked to confirm their identity do not need to do anything.

The requirements to confirm identity do not currently apply to users of the BankID app who are under 18 years of age, or to users with a foreign passport that is not valid or not machine-readable. Those who only use a code device with BankID are also not included. ID verification solutions for these groups are being developed and will be launched at a later date.
